And of course, more specifically, a mother's love for her son. A friend asked me to recommend a song she could dedicate to her son at his wedding reception. She said she was having a hard time finding one that conveyed exactly what she wanted to 'say' to her son. After several of my own failed suggestions I said, 'If I can't find one, I'll write one.' And, with that comment, the search ended and 'Wedding Coat' began. I was very fortunate to have worked with two of the most incredibly talented individuals on this song. Marc Rossi's masterful music & melody and Shelly Rann's emotional interpretation and exceptional voice bring my lyrics to a higher, more powerful level of sentiment. Thank you, Marc and Shelly!!
